MEGA ROBBERY IN MEFOU AFAMBA SWEPT AWAY 700 MILLION CFA

A Hollywoodlike attack on a money carrying van fade out of bright with a gorgeous sum of 700 million CFA francs in a village called Akoumou.

A gang of armed robbers attacked a money transporting van belonging to the Transval Cameroon Company and made away with a sum of 700 million despite the intervention of the police men who were in the van.  According to the national daily, Cameroon Tribune, the van was transporting money from Yaoundé to Bertoua when it was intercepted in a village called Akoumou in the Nkolafamba sub-division in the Mefou and Afamba division. Report says the policemen and the driver in in the van were easily overshadowed by the unidentified thieves as they fade out of bright with large sum of money.

Report says the incident happened like a Hollywood movie as the robbers diapered leaving their victims helpless. The center legion gendarmerie where the driver and the uniform officers involved in the incident have been driven has taken charge of the issue and has opened investigation to trace the where about of the huge sum of money and bring the robbers to book.

Although the number of policemen that were in the van was not specified, the incident raises the issue of security around the vehicle that transports money in Cameroon. It is undeliverable that a van carry such an important amount of money is not escorted by a dissuasive squad of uniform men.
