Results of the Gabon presidential elections that took place on Saturday 12th of April have given transitional president Oligui Nguema as winner with 90.35%.
Gabonese transition president Brice Cloteraire OLigui Nguema has emerged winner of his country’s presidential election following unconfirmed results that was published in the election that was conducted Saturday 12 April 2025. Former General Oligui Nguema emerged winner with a lands slight score of 90.35%. Since Sunday 13th April that the results were published, Gabonese in the street express their satisfaction as their greatest desire was to see a new face at the helm of the country after more than half a century rule of the Bongo dynasty.
Oligui Nguema’s only prominent opponent in the 8 man presidential race was Alain Claude Bilie By Nze, prime minister of Ali Bongo at the time of the coup in August 2023. Nze scored 3.02% while the rest of the candidates came with less than 1%. Observers give a pass mark to the election as it went on hitch free as compared to the other once that have taken place in the country before. Birce Clotaire Oligui Nguema was chief of the presidential security in Ali Bongo’s government. He tuple the government on the 30th of August 2023 in a bloodless coup and took over power. After two years as president of a transitional government, Nguema has taken off his military uniform and vied for an election that has permitted him to lead the affairs of oil rich Gabon for the next 7 years.
