The Territorial Administration boss chaired a meeting on security in the West region as he visited on April 8, 2025. During this meeting, he commended the administrative and security authorities for maintaining a stable security climate.
Territorial administration boss Paul Atangan Nji expressed satisfaction to the collaboration of the security operatives of the region and that administrative authorities, which enabled the tracking and seizure of some 30 tons of Indian hemp and more than 20 tons of cocaine. He expressed the Head of State’s congratulations to the security officials, not hiding his satisfaction that the security situation in the region is under control.
Speaking about the 2025 regional and presidential elections, the minister said that there must be a deep synergy between administrative authorities, law enforcement officers and the population, calling on Governor Awa Fonka Augustine to lead the administrative authorities to support ELECAM so that the rule of law should prevails.
They must combat hate speech, drug use, fake drugs, fake news, counterfeit products, political manipulation and all threats to peace, adding that they should work to ensure peace prevails before, during and after the elections.
The interior Minister stressed that political actors have the right to political freedom, but that those who challenge the authority of the state will be brought to justice. He therefore called on the governor to continue effective awareness-raising and put in place mechanisms to monitor crime.
Regarding terrorists invading the West region through Bamboutos and Noun divisions, the Minister of Territorial Administration stated that strong mechanisms would be put in place to prevent this. He called on security actors to continue to preserve the integrity of the nation for a Great Cameroon.
The security meeting continued behind closed doors with an assessment of the political, economic, social, security, and development climate in the western region. Present in the meeting were the eight senior security officials from the eight divisions of the West Region, the Attorney General, other security forces and stakeholders.
