The Littoral regional governor’s office has promised to facilitate the work of journalists by giving them easy access to sources of information especially at this critical period in the history of Cameroon. This engagement was taken this day, Wednesday 30th July during the visit of the Cameroon Association of English Speaking Journalists
Douala Chapter CAMASEJ-D’s newly elected bureau led by their president Ndih Maureen to the governor’s office.
Representing the head of the Littoral Region, Secretary General Haman Tchiouto was very happy with President Ndih Maureen’s visit together with her new bureau members. While congratulating her for the election into office for a second term, he did not fail to remind her of the heavy responsibility the lies on her shoulders as the president of the association of such an important profession. “if for instance the Regional Delegate of Communication notices that there are two or three journalists that are going out of the framework of the ethics of the profession, it is the president that will be called”, he pointed out.
He did not fail to advice journalists to work with professionalism in the coverage of the electoral period before, within and after the exercise. “We will always be together here at the governor’s office to thank you for a job well done. I am counting on you and I hope that every member of CAMASEJ-D will take the same engagement”, the SG said. However, Mr Haman Tchiouto apologized for the absence of the governor and explained that if at times information is not given to journalist as they demand or at the time the demand, it is just because the government is still working on the source to get the correct information that will not mislead the public.
